Winged Victory of Samothrace

I took art appreciation in seventh grade. Let me tell you, that class was boring, and that's coming from someone who loves art. Howevevr, from that semester the one thing I remembered was this. The Winged Victory of Samothrace.I could stare at it for hours just thinking. It's so beautiful and it brings up so many questions and thoughts.I love how someone could make such a hard solid art medium feel so soft and weightless. I mean really, feathers and a flowy dress made out of stone? It's such an incredible mixture that works so well. I like to imagine this as an angel who was wounded in battle but managed to survive it. An angel, soft, war, hard. It's the perfect mixture in every way.
